When somebody askes me to make a portrait of a familymember, then he has affinity for that person. Affinity gets translated into beauty. Therefore, my task is to represent the beauty of the person. This will best comes out when he feels good.

When somebody poses he don't  feels good. We see emotions like shyness and boredom. I use photos to avoid this. But a photo is for me not a flat surface. Specially with people who died, who I made a portret of, it became clear for me.

I have experienced that the portrait painting takes up an important place . With a died person I get reactions like : "I talk with him. I am so happy that he is back for me." It is a real support for them. With persons still in life it is the record of a lovely age. Then I get reactions like : She looks more lovely than on the photo, but also more real . You get hold over her essence .
